FAQ
Budget allocator FAQ
How should I split my marketing budget across channels?
There's no universal split — it depends on where your audience is and what's converting. A common starting mix for B2B is roughly 30% paid search, 25% paid social, 20% content/SEO, 10% email, and 15% held for testing new channels. Adjust the percentages based on what's actually driving pipeline for you.
What's a typical channel mix benchmark?
Many mid-market B2B teams weight paid search and paid social highest since they're the most directly measurable, followed by content/SEO for compounding organic reach, with email and an 'other/experimental' bucket rounding out the remainder. Treat any benchmark as a starting point, not a target.
Why do my percentages need to add up to 100%?
The allocator shows a warning when your channel percentages don't sum to 100% — under 100% means part of the budget is unallocated, and over 100% means you've committed more than the total budget covers. Both are fine to leave temporarily while you're experimenting with a mix, but a live campaign plan should reconcile to 100%.
Can I add or remove channels?
Yes — use "Add channel" to add a new row, or the trash icon on a row to remove it. Rename any channel to match your own taxonomy (e.g. split "Paid Social" into LinkedIn Ads and Meta Ads if you track them separately).
Does this tool store or send my budget numbers anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser — there's no backend call, no account, and nothing is saved or transmitted. Refreshing the page resets it back to the default example.
