Counts are Unicode characters. Some platforms count differently: X counts every link as 23 characters and most emoji and non-Latin characters as 2, and Bluesky counts graphemes — so posts near the limit may vary slightly from what the platform reports.

FAQ

Character counter FAQ

Which platforms does this character counter support?

It covers LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok, and YouTube community posts — with live counts and truncation warnings for each.

Do character limits include spaces and emoji?

Yes. Most platforms count spaces. Emoji and some special characters can count as more than one character (or as multiple code points), so this tool uses the same counting approach marketers use day to day — paste the draft you plan to post.

Why do posts get truncated even when under the limit?

Feeds often show a shorter preview than the hard character cap. LinkedIn and Facebook in particular cut early in the feed with a “see more” link. Aim for a strong first line even when the full post fits the platform maximum.

Is my draft stored or sent to a server?

No. Counting runs in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded, stored, or used to train models.

How should lean teams use this with AI-drafted social posts?

Paste each channel variant before you approve. AI drafts can overshoot limits or bury the hook. A quick character check keeps human approval fast without surprises after publish.
