The page you want to send traffic to. https:// is assumed if you leave it off.
The platform sending traffic (e.g. facebook, newsletter, google).
The marketing medium (e.g. cpc, email, social, referral).
The specific campaign or promotion (e.g. summer_sale, black_friday).
Paid search keyword. Usually only used for search ads.
Used to differentiate ads or links pointing to the same URL (e.g. header_cta vs sidebar_cta).
UTM parameters are case-sensitive and use underscores by convention. Spaces are automatically URL-encoded. Paste this URL into your ads, emails, or social posts — Google Analytics 4 will attribute the traffic to the source, medium, and campaign you set.
Guide
Campaign attribution starts with consistent UTM naming
UTM parameters are how GA4 attributes traffic to a specific source, medium, and campaign. Inconsistent naming — mixed case, spaces, or missing required fields — breaks reports and makes ROAS impossible to calculate per channel.
Lean teams often skip UTMs on social and email because building links manually is tedious. This builder URL-encodes every parameter so your links are GA4-ready. Paste the result into ads, newsletters, and social posts before you publish.
mktcrew's Reporter agent pulls cross-channel campaign data — sources, mediums, spend, and conversions — into a weekly digest across Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, and GA4. Start a free trial when you want attribution compiled for you.

FAQ
UTM builder FAQ
What are UTM parameters?
UTM parameters are tracking tags appended to a URL that identify where traffic came from. They let analytics tools like Google Analytics 4 attribute visits to a specific source, medium, and campaign.
What does utm_source mean?
utm_source identifies the platform or referrer sending traffic — for example facebook, newsletter, google, or linkedin. It is a required parameter.
What does utm_medium mean?
utm_medium identifies the marketing medium or channel — for example cpc (cost-per-click), email, social, or referral. It is a required parameter.
What does utm_campaign mean?
utm_campaign identifies the specific promotion or campaign — for example summer_sale, black_friday, or product_launch. It is a required parameter.
Do UTM parameters work in Google Analytics 4?
Yes. GA4 reads utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content the same way Universal Analytics did. UTMs remain the standard for manual campaign attribution in GA4.
